Reverend Sam Bate, Interim Priest-in-Charge
Sam says that he counts it as a true privilege to be asked to lead the Parish at this time in its history and development. His stated primary goal, as agreed with the St Mark’s leadership team and with the Diocese, is to lead Carterton Anglicans in discernment and preparation for whatever God has next for us – and wants from us – here.
Sam also has a special interest in people’s personal and collective (e.g., small-group, parish, church community) journeys with Jesus and the Holy Spirit.
Sam is a priest ordained here in the Wellington Diocese. He has been in parish leadership and involved in a variety of other ministries over many years. He is currently also a chaplain at a rest home & dementia unit in Masterton, and an accredited Spiritual Director. He lives with his wife, Christina, in Masterton, and they have one adult son who lives in Wellington.

Reverend Judith Wigglesworth
All Saints in Palmerston North and Wellington Cathedral of St Paul in Wellington are the places of my beginnings and my growing in God. An increasing openness to God’s call led to my ordination in 2008 and to subsequent ministry roles at the Cathedral and other Wellington parishes. My walk of faith has been enriched through regular times of retreat and contemplation, and I love to create such opportunities for others. I moved to Carterton in 2018 with my husband Roger, seeking to grow a ministry of retreat hospitality and spiritual companioning. We have three adult sons, all living overseas.
